IDKit is a browser-based tool that checks a photo you upload against the published US passport photo specification, then crops and prepares a compliant version — sizing, head-height ratio, and background all checked automatically, right on your screen. Once it passes, you can download the compliant photo and a printable 4×6 sheet (6 copies) sized for standard drugstore/photo-counter printing.

Yes. Face detection, cropping, and background replacement all run locally in your browser — your photo is never uploaded to any IDKit server, before or after processing. That's true even during checkout: when you pay, your photo is held in your browser's own local storage while you're briefly redirected to Stripe's hosted payment page, then restored the moment you land back on IDKit. It never travels alongside the payment. See the full Privacy Policy for details.

IDKit checks your photo against the published US passport photo specification, entirely on your device, and we build the tool to match that spec as closely as possible. But IDKit is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the U.S. Department of State or any other government agency — final acceptance of any photo is always at the sole discretion of the agency you submit it to. We can't guarantee acceptance, and we'd rather tell you that plainly than oversell it.

Starting January 2026, the U.S. State Department banned AI face-retouching on passport photos. Some other passport-photo tools reportedly still do it anyway. IDKit never retouches faces — no skin-smoothing, no reshaping, nothing altered about how you actually look. To be clear, that's a description of what IDKit does (and doesn't do), not a claim that IDKit holds any official compliance certification — we don't, and no such certification exists for a consumer tool like this.

The tool tells you exactly what to fix, right there on the page — whether that's a face-detection issue or a background that isn't clean enough — and lets you retry with the same photo or a different one. There's no payment or commitment until a photo actually passes.

Not yet — IDKit currently checks against the US passport photo specification only. Other countries' specs may come later.

We use Vercel Analytics to see aggregate traffic to the site. It 's cookieless — it doesn't set cookies, doesn't use tracking identifiers or device fingerprinting, and can't follow you across other sites. It only ever sees aggregate traffic data, never your photo, which never leaves your device in the first place.
